Embracing Beltane: Harnessing Nature's Energies for Growth, Abundance, and Balance

Embracing Beltane
May 1 is celebrated as Beltane or May Day. It is the halfway point between the Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice, and Beltane offers us a container in which to harmonize with nature, burn off the old, create inner balance, and tap into the abundance energies that new spring growth offer.
I want to share with you a few ways that you can work with the beautiful, healing, and empowering energies present on this day.
Fertitily & Abundance
During Beltane, the sacred union of the God & Goddess is honored, and the earth's fertility is celebrated.
Fertility
In honoring the sacred union, we can reflect on the way in which masculine and feminine are forever coming together to create new growth. When we look around us, we see birth, which is a powerful creative force. But I encourage you to move beyond seeing and instead tap into the creative force. Use it to fuel your new growth and expansion. Use it to fuel your creativity.
Abundance
Any time we can tap into the wider expression of abundance is a good day, and nature gives us no shortage of opportunities to experience the energetic abundance.
During Beltane, we have an abundance of beauty and new growth - both beautiful Intrinsic Energies® to explore. One way to play with this today is to use the Intrinsic Energies® of Beltane to fuel your manifestation space and support your growth intentions with beauty and possibility.
Fire & Purification
Beltane is derived from the Irish Gaelic word 'Bealtaine' or the Scottish Gaelic word 'Bealltainn' that means 'Bright Fire.' During Beltane, bonfires are used to celebrate the Sun's return and to acknowledge the fire of life. The Sun itself is seen as the provider of life in many cultures.
Fire is a powerful Intrinsic Energy® to tap into - it burns off that which no longer serves us, and it can spark life into our hopes and desires.
Where I love a good bonfire, in many areas, burn bans make outdoor fires impossible at this time of year. You can always build a fire in your fireplace if you have one, or even light a candle to experience the physical presence of fire.
That being said, when I'm doing my inner work, I much prefer to work with the Intrinsic Energy® of Fire as a tool to support my deeper healing.
Some options include:
Kundalini Energy
Use Kundalini energy to clear and purify the chakras and your sushumna (the column that runs from the base of the tailbone to the top of your head and connects the chakras.) With Intrinsic Energy Work®, you don't need to step into the effort of breath of fire to work with Kundalini energy - you can simply locate the switch at the base of the tailbone and turn your Kundalini on. It will begin to flow, making its way up through the sushumna, cleaning out as it goes. Just remember to turn it off when you are done!
Use the Sun!
The Sun is our biggest source of fire energy! You can either go outside and connect with its power, intending or envisioning it burning off what you no longer need, or you can use the Sun Intrinsic Energy® and work within your Intrinsic Energy® space to purify your space.
Light a Candle or Make a Fire
Sitting in the presence of fire and meditating on the flame with the intention of inner purification can also help to burn off the energies you no longer need and are ready to release.
Connection to Nature
Go outside and connect with the land and the energy of the earth.
Honor the Spirits of the Land, Plants, & Animals
One beautiful practice to embrace is saying 'hello' to the plants, trees, and animals you encounter. This practice acknowledges their sentience and reinforces your oneness with all things.
Connect with the Rhythm of Nature
Our lifestyles have disconnected us from the rhythm of nature. There was a time that we would rise with the Sun and settle in with the Sunset, but today we are absent of that connection.
Beltane is one of the days that we can focus on tapping into the rhythm of nature. You can go outside and ground, close your eyes, and feel the pulse of spring and new growth.
But you can also tap into the Intrinsic Energies® of Nature and run the energy of Spring, of life, of flow through your being.
I'd opt for both. ;-)
Growth & Transformation
As we move from the darkness of winter to the light of summer, Beltane is another opportunity to recognize growth, renewal, and transformation. During Beltane, we can shed old habits, limiting beliefs, and patterns that no longer serve us and welcome in new ways of being and doing.
Here are a couple of ways to use the energies of Beltane to support your growth & transformation.
Use Fire & Purification To Release
Write down all the habits, beliefs, and patterns you want to release and then burn the pages - the act of writing moves these out of your subconscious, and the act of burning releases them. Once you release, step into your Intrinsic Energy Work® space and welcome in the energy of new ways of being and doing.
Plant Intentions
Energetically or physically plants seeds for new ways of being and doing.
As much as I love to work with the energy of intention and plant energetic seeds for new growth, there is something beautiful about planting an actual seed attached to your desire to create something new in your life.
Caring for it, nurturing it, and watching it grow is a constant reminder of your growth and expansion.
Balance & Unity
Beltane represents the balance of the masculine and feminine energies within each individual and the world at large. It is a time to honor and celebrate the interconnectedness of all living things and to recognize the importance of balance and harmony in our lives.
Here are two ways to explore creating balance and harmony between your masculine and feminine energies.
Shiva Linga Mudra
Use the Shiva Linga Mudra to balance your masculine and feminine energies.
Make the shape of a bowl with your left hand.
Make a fist with your right hand and place it on your left.
Extend your right thumb up (like a thumbs-up sign.)
Hold the fingers of your left hand closed.
Position your hands in front of your second chakra, between the second and third, or at the third (I like to play with what I notice when I place the mudra at different places)
Extend your elbows, pointing outward and slightly forward.
Sit for 3-5 minutes and notice what is happening in your body.
Remember, with noticing, you are doing just that - noticing. There is nothing specific you are supposed to notice; I want you to get into the habit of being aware of what is happening within.
Twin Flame Energy
Twin Flame Energy is a whole other conversation, but in short, I see that our journey is to embody and balance our twin flames - to be whole as masculine and feminine energies rather than find someone who fills that void for us.
So what I do is play with balancing the two energies within.
Here's how:
Start by sitting and having your feet flat on the floor.
Close your eyes.
Take a breath in and out.
Envision two flows of energy that begin at the base of the tailbone - one masculine and one feminine. Allow these energies to either merge or entwine - whichever feels right for you in the moment and then bring those energies up through your core.
Sit in this space with your twin flames flowing, and notice what you are experiencing.
Remember, there is no right or wrong here.
When you are done, you can leave the energies flowing if they feel good, or you can shut them back off before you step out of your Intrinsic Energy Work® space.
These are just a few ways to honor Beltane and tap into the powerful Intrinsic Energies® present. Remember, you don't have to do this work on the day; these energies are present any time you want to connect with them.
Pop into the forum and let me know what work you choose to do and what you experience.
