The Weight of External Energies: Being Mindful of What You Absorb
Have you ever left a conversation feeling either completely uplifted or utterly drained? Different energy sources:
Understanding external energies and their sources can help you navigate your experiences better. Here's a breakdown:
People: We often hear phrases like "vibing with someone" or "they drain my energy". It's true; people carry their energy. Some folks are a breath of fresh air, while others, although we may love them dearly, can exhaust us. It's not about labeling individuals as "good" or "bad" but recognizing how you feel after spending time with them.
Places: Have you ever walked into a room and felt an immediate mood shift or a chill? Places retain energy. That's why some spaces feel serene and calming, while others might induce stress or discomfort.
Media: The shows we watch, the music we listen to, and the news we consume play a significant role in shaping our energy. While it's essential to stay informed, it's equally crucial to discern what kind of media aligns with your well-being.
Food: Think about the last meal that made you feel lethargic versus one that energized you. The food we eat isn't just about the nutrients; it's also about the energy it carries. Things that impact the energy of food include where it's grown, how it's made, and who is cooking it. When my son was little, he used to ask me why my food tasted so good, and I would always say, 'Because it's made with love.'
How to detox from heavy energies:
It's a beautiful journey to recognize what energies lift you and which ones weigh you down. But how do you shake off the heavy ones? Here are some energy tools I've found incredibly grounding:
Grounding exercises: These are simple yet effective techniques to reconnect with yourself. It could be as easy as taking ten deep breaths, visualizing roots extending from your feet deep into the earth, or meditating with a focus on your physical sensations.
Salt baths: A warm bath infused with Epsom salts or Himalayan pink salts works wonders. Not only will this relax your muscles, but it also helps to recharge any energy you've collected and it cleanses your aura of any lingering negative energies.
Nature walks: There's something undeniably healing about nature. Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed, I take a walk. The rustling leaves, the chirping birds, and the gentle caress of the wind have a way of making heavy energies feel lighter.
Digital detoxes: In an age of constant connectivity, it's easy to forget that we need breaks. Periodically disconnecting from our screens allows us to reconnect with ourselves. Whether it's a few hours or an entire weekend, give yourself the gift of a digital detox.
Intrinsic Energy Work®: This is by far the most important tool you can have. Learning how to identify what you are carrying, why you are carrying it, and having the ability to then clear that energy is priceless.
In the ebb and flow of life, it's paramount to remember that you are the custodian of your energy. If energies are finding their way, there are powerful lessons there for you.
