Manifesting With Flow: The Role of Flow and Letting Go of Force

Maybe you've heard the phrase, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." This phrase holds a more profound truth when it comes to manifesting our desires and achieving our goals. When we are in effort, flow does not exist, and it is flow that helps us to create.

Developing a state of flow is crucial for our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. When I look at 'work' as it pertains to manifestation, I see work as anything that puts us into a state of effort. So even if you love what you do, if you are 'trying' to get somewhere, you are in effort, and effort creates tension, which blocks our ability to manifest.

That's why being in a state of flow can greatly enhance our ability to manifest, while too much effort or force can get in the way.

Let's talk about manifesting with flow - what is the connection between manifestation and flow, and how to recognize and release the limiting effects of force.

The Role of Flow in Manifestation

Flow is a state of complete immersion and focus in an activity, often referred to as being "in the zone." When we're in a state of flow, we're fully engaged and present in the moment, allowing creativity and inspiration to flow freely. This heightened consciousness can be the key to unlocking our potential and manifesting our desires.

One reason flow is so powerful is that it aligns us with the natural rhythms of the Universe, and it is an important aspect of being in present time. When we're in a state of flow, we're not trying to force things to happen; instead, we're allowing them to unfold naturally.

This harmonious state helps to attract and manifest the things we desire with ease.

Effort, Force, and Their Impact on Manifestation

While inspired action is an essential component of success, it's important to recognize when action crosses the line into force and to understand the difference between the two.

When we try to force outcomes or control every aspect of a situation, we create resistance that can impede our ability to manifest. Instead of attracting what we want, we may end up pushing it farther away.

Force is often driven by fear, insecurity, or a sense of urgency, which moves our manifestation process into our mental and ego aspects.

The energy of hard work in the form of force translates to the Universe as desperation and lacking trust or certainty.

Force takes us out of alignment and hinders our connection to Source, and Source is the ultimate state of flow.

I can't count how many times I've seen people want something so badly that it consumes their every waking moment. When did they manifest what they wanted? As soon as they gave up trying. As soon as they let go of control and released force.

What happens when we release force? We flow.

Oprah tells the story of reaching a point where she thought her acting career would never happen. She surrendered, and no sooner did she surrender; she was cast in The Color Purple. This is a perfect example - but I'm guessing you don't have to look at Oprah; you've had your own experience of this.

I want you to take a moment and tap in.

  • Close your eyes and take a breath in.

  • Think about a time when you really wanted something, and your focus was so intent on it - all your waking hours were wrapped up in if or when it would happen (relationship, job, financial freedom.) It's all you could think about.

  • I want you to tap into how you felt at the time.

  • Notice the tension in your body, the effort, the stress, the doubt.

  • All of that is contrary to where we need to be to manifest what we want.

Have you heard this: you attract where your attention is?

Look at the above moment - where was your attention - chasing, forcing, doubting, worrying, stressing, trying - so what were you creating? More of that.

Finding Flow: The Key to Manifesting Your Desires

To manifest our desires, we have to find the state of flow. Flow allows what we seek to find its way into our life.

Here are some steps to help you find and embrace the state of flow:

  1. Learn how to set effective intentions: I always say, 'Your mind can only know what it knows.' So if you start with a super specific intention, you limit what the Universe can send your way. In my Peridot Manifestation Membership, we play with the Manifestation Funnel - the idea that you start with a broad stroke of what you want - the energies, how you want to feel, the values, the qualities, and as things start to show up, only then can you begin to hone and shape your desires. This is an essential step in manifesting consciously. For more on this and to also gain an understanding of how and why you might not be manifestation what you want, read my article Unlocking Your Soul's Potential: How Manifestation Abilities and Spiritual Growth Are Connected )

  2. Do your work: Developing a Daily Intrinsic Energy Work® Practice puts you into a state of flow - by learning how to run your energy, how to identify what doesn't serve you, AND by developing the have the tools to clear, move, or shift that energy, all lead to flow. That's why people in my programs grow more quickly in the time they spend with me than in any other work they do or have done. Intrinsic Energy Work® creates flow. I have a special offer for you to get the Daily Practice program now - check here.

  3. Embrace play and creativity: Make time for hobbies, social activities, and relaxation. Engaging in activities that bring joy and inspiration opens you to the flow of the Universe. When you are forcing, and in effort, nothing can flow. Play, movement, and creativity get energy moving, and they ignite your soul and connect you to your Divine Source.

  4. Trust the process: Believe in your ability to manifest your desires, and trust that the Universe is working in your favor. Let go of the need to control every detail and instead focus on taking inspired action. Trusting (or eventually having certainty) is part of our Spiritual growth - that's why your ability to manifest is directly tied to your Spiritual growth (see article noted in #1.)

Being in a state of flow is an essential component of developing the ability to manifest what you want. By letting go of force and embracing ease, we can align ourselves with the natural rhythms of the Universe and connect with our divine Source; when we do, we begin to attract our desires with greater ease.
